On February 27, the construction of the Public Performance Center for World Expo 2010 opens for public bidding.

The center is located in Pudong part of the Expo Site, near the Zhoujiadu ferry station, the Maglev station and Metro Line No.8.

Construction of the 145,000-square-meter center is planned to start this year and it is scheduled to begin operation by the end of 2009.

The center is expected to be a model ecological construction in the site and will serve as a place where meetings, forums, press conferences and welcoming ceremonies for VIPs can be held.

After the World Expo 2010, the city will keep the center as one of the leading international conference centers in Asia.
