
The Executive Committee of the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) met
on October 27 (local time) in its headquarters in Paris to hear a report from
the Chinese delegation led by Shanghai Vice Mayor Yang Xiong, who is also Member
of World Expo Shanghai 2010 Organizing Committee and Executive Deputy Director
of World Expo Shanghai 2010 Executive Committee.
At this meeting Zhou Hanmin, Deputy Director General of the Bureau of
Shanghai World Expo Coordination, reporting on behalf of the organizing team of
World Expo 2010 Shanghai China, gave a detailed account of the latest progress
about the functions and layout of the Expo site, planning, design and
construction of halls, market development, online World Expo, communication and
promotion of the Expo, and the preparations being made for the The First
Participants Meeting for the World Exposition Shanghai China 2010. He then
answered questions from members of the BIE Executive Committee. At the same
time, the Chinese delegation gave an overall review of World Expo preparations
over the past four years and a survey of major projects to be launched over the
next four years, especially next year.
The members of BIE Executive Committee expressed their congratulations
regarding the progress that had been made, especially the breakthrough in
attracting participants.
