Engineers using explosives demolished a 16-story building owned by the
Baosteel Group today to make way for the construction work at the World Expo
Site.
The blowing-up of the building located to the east of Lupu Bridge in Pudong,
marked a new stage in the progress of construction work for World Expo 2010
Shanghai. So far, 40 percent of the site has been cleared and made ready for
construction of pavilions and other facilities for the Expo.
The place occupied by of the demolished building is planned to be the
location of the Theme Pavilion and the China National Pavilion.
According to the construction agenda, by the end of this year, 272
enterprises now housed in the World Expo Site will sign agreements to move out.
By June in 2007, the relocation will be completed.
Baosteel has given great support to the World Expo and has served as a model
for quick relocation.
