On the morning of August 30th, the opening ceremony of the weather-monitoring project for the Expo Park was held on the platform of the 13th story of Expo Mansion. Deputy Director of China Meteorological Bureau Dr. Wang Shourong and Hua Junduo, the Chinese Government's General Commissioner to BIE (Bureau of International Expositions) jointly unveiled the first automatic weather monitoring station, which signifies the start of the Expo Weather Project. Within the 5.28-square-kilometer site, 17 other weather monitoring stations are planned to be installed subsequently to provide various weather services for the Expo including real-time monitoring and information collection for the Expo Park and neighboring areas.
