The Expo Community Center, which is invested by Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co., Ltd., is the largest permanent building in the Expo Park. The foundation of the building covers an area of 66,500 square meters and totally covers 145,000 square meters with 100,000 square meters above the ground and 45,000 under the ground.

The construction of the Expo Community Center will be officially started within the year, which may signify the starting of the construction of buildings within the Expo Park.

The international bid-inviting meeting for the designing scheme of the Expo Community Center was held in early August. Four designing groups from home and abroad and six top designing offices from overseas participated . The actual bidding plan will come out in October this year.
