On September 1st 2006, in Pujiang Expo Garden, the newly built Lotus Flower Pond Expo Kindergarten, Huangpu No. 1 Expo Primary School and Xiangming Expo Junior Middle School received the first batch of students. The children of families relocated to make way for the Expo site started school on time.

It is also reported that by the end of August, service facilities including clinics and community centers and commercial services have already been trusted to the relevant departments in Minhang District and Luwan District by Shanghai World Expo Land Holding Corporation which is responsible for the construction of the Expo site. So far, in Pujiang Expo Garden, 9823 apartments covering a total area of 840,000 square meters and service facilities of 100,000 square meters have been delivered, which indicates that Pujiang Expo Garden has been virtually completed and put into operation.
