Int’l Forum on Improvement of Language Environment for World Expo 2010 held in SH

An international forum on the improvement of language environment for World Expo 2010 was held in Shanghai on September 13-14, with an aim to map out strategies and plans for improving the use and services of standardized languages for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. A total of 12 experts delivered keynote speeches during the forum, focusing on four topics including the“Language Planning and Strategies in Multi-lingual Societies”,“Strategies for the Improvement of Language Services and Environment”,“Language Construction Strategies against a Multi-cultural Backdrop”, and“International Communication Strategies of Mandarin Chinese against the Opportunity of World Expo.”

Over 10,000 families of Pudong New Area agreed to relocate for World Expo

Over 10,000 families have signed the relocation agreement for the 2010 World Expo in Pudong New Area, the major area for the pilot relocation scheme in the run-up to the Shanghai World Expo. On October 8, Ms. Xu Lihua, representing the 10,000th family signing agreement for relocation, accepted relocation souvenirs and memoir album presented to her by Mr. Zhang Xuebing, Deputy Director General of 2010 Shanghai World Expo Executive Committee and Governor of Pudong New Area as well as Vice Secretary of Pudong CPC Committee. Security Agreement for First tranche of World Expo Bonds signed

October 13 witnessed the signing ceremony of the security agreement for the first tranche of World Expo bonds, which was held at the Multi-function Hall on the 7th Floor of the World Expo Group on. Proceeds from the bonds will be used to construct major projects for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The issuance of World Expo bonds will not only provide funds for the construction of World Expo projects, but also boost public awareness of the World Expo, mobilizing citizens to support the preparatory work for the World Expo. Forum on Public Branding Held

The“2010: Better City, Better Life”public branding seminar, jointly organized by the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, Tsinghua University and the Ogilvy Group, was held in Shanghai on October 18. Experts from the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Economic Relations & Trade Commission, the World Expo Group, Tsinghua University and the Ogilvy Group held discussions on the building and marketing of Shanghai’s public brand as well as the promotion of the Shanghai World Expo. Keynote speeches on tourism branding, regional branding, foreign trade and exchanges were also delivered at the seminar.

World Expo Property Management Talents to go to HK for training

The“World Expo Property Management Talents”seminar was held in the building of World Expo Group in the afternoon of October 18, marking the formal launch of the training program for Property Management Talents for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The training program includes talent certification for senior managers in property management for World Expo, certification for managers in property management for World Expo and certification for senior managers in providing security service for the property management of the World Expo. Trainees will be trained in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and will obtain certificates, if qualified, from the Shanghai World Expo Talent Certification Center. Qualified trainees will be listed in the talent database of Shanghai World Expo.

Hungary to participate in Shanghai Expo

The signing ceremony of“MOU on Hungary’s Participation in the Shanghai Expo 2010”was held in Shanghai on October 25, which is believed to further promote friendly relationship between Hungary and China and will play active roles in boosting Sino-Hungary trade, social, and cultural cooperations and exchanges.
