On the morning of Sept. 19, the opening ceremony of "Shanghai Week" at the Aichi World Expo was grandly held in the China Pavilion. Chen Liangyu, politburo member of the CPC Central Committee, first Vice Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for Shanghai 2010 World Expo, and Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee; Wu Jianmin, Chairperson of the BIE; Vincente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary-General of the BIE; and Nakamura Toshio, Secretary-General of the Japan Association for the 2005 World Expositions all delivered speeches at the ceremony. Zhou Yupeng, Standing Member of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Standing Vice-Chairperson of the Executive Committee for Shanghai 2010 World Expo, and Director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, presided over the ceremony.
