The 2005 Shanghai Book Exhibition opened in Shanghai Exhibition Centre at the beginning of August, with“Reading Makes Life More Harmonious”as the theme.

This year, the exhibition covered an area of over 27,000 square meters, with 1000 stands. There were 4933 new books available for order, 6373 for retail, and 9370 imported from abroad. The group purchases from 270 libraries in the country have amounted to RMB13.8 million, the highest ever so far.
