During January 11-13,
2005, the First China Expo Forum for International Cooperation (CEFCO), which
was co-organized by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade
(CCPIT), the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), the
International Association for Exhibition Management (IAEM) and the Society of
Independent Show Organizers (SISO), was successfully held in Beijing. The forum
was composed of "Forum Meetings" and the China International Trade Show for
Exhibitions and Conferences (InterExpo 2005). "Forum Meetings" included five
parts, namely, the "Opening-up, Cooperation and Win-win" theme conference, the
"Exhibition Cities Aimed at the 21st Century" forum, the Global Summit of CEOs
from the Exhibition Industry, the Round Table Conference of Trade Organizations
in the Exhibition Industry, Meetings to Promote Cooperation in Exhibition
Projects, and Meetings to Negotiate for Joint Investment and Cooperation in
Exhibitions. The InterExpo was mainly made up of two parts: exhibitions
organized by exhibition companies and units and seminars and special-topic
lectures on exhibition. The InterExpo has attracted much attention from
people within the exhibition industry ever since its first session was held in
2000, and gradually formed its own unique brand. The First China Expo Forum for
International Cooperation made an organic combination between forum meetings and
the InterExpo 2005, which may be rated as a grand occasion at the highest-level
in China's exhibition industry. With "Opening-up, Cooperation and Win-win" as
the theme, the forum had the participation of approximately 600 people in the
exhibition industries at home and abroad, who are from different places of China
and 17 foreign countries and regions. They took part in the forum meetings and
relevant activities, carried out discussions around the hot spots of the
exhibition economy, and jointly explored ways for the development of the
exhibition industries of China and other countries and methods of cooperation in
this aspect. All the activities were arranged in a compact manner with abundant
practical contents, and thus won the favorable comments of the
participants.。 This forum has got vigorous support from the Chinese
Government. On the afternoon of January 11, the Vice-premier of the State

cooperation and communication, gradually set up a rational layout of Shanghai's
exhibition industry, build exhibition brands and train a large number of human
talents in this field. At the "Evening of the Expo" banquet co-organized by

Expo was a full acknowledgement of China's economic and social development,
including the advancement of the exhibition industry from international
community, since it adopted the reform and opening-up policy. Expo 2010 Shanghai
would provide an excellent opportunity for Shanghai to explore, to learn and to
make rapid progress in the course of developing its exhibition industry, and
would exert a profound influence on the exhibition industry of Shanghai and
China for quite a long period. During the banquet, some video films were
shown to give publicity to the Expo 2010 Shanghai, which presented vivid
pictures of Expo 2010 Shanghai at present and in the future. The guests present

Cooperation manifested a combination of internationalism, professionalism and
openness. The Sixth China International Trade Show for Exhibitions and
Conferences, which was held during the same period, was participated by over 100
exhibition enterprises including five affiliates of the Expo Group. This forum
has built a platform for further exchange and cooperation between Chinese and

exhibition industry to open wider to the outside world, seek extensive
cooperation and try to achieve win-win result. At the forum, the relationship
between the Shanghai World Expo and the exhibition industry of China was a hot
topic, and grasping the opportunities brought about by the Expo 2010 Shanghai to
