On April 22, the Expo Shanghai Promotion Week & Exhibition "The Path to World Exposition" had its opening ceremony in Tianjin Museum. On the same day, a large statue of Expo mascot Haibao was unveiled at Tianjin Museum after the opening ceremony.

The exhibition systematically introduced the origin and development of the Expo, the relationship between the World Expo, the modern society and the cultural development. A special section of "Tianjin and World Expo" was set apart to showcase the awards that Tianjin's products had won at the past Expos. These include Yangliuqing New Year Pictures, painted sculptures of Clay Figurine Zhang, Tianjin Wei Kite and Red Triangle brand pure alkali. During the Promotion week, a series of activities were held such as "the Path to World Exposition" Digitalized Display Technology Trend Forum, "China's Opportunity and Global Pageant" expo-themed lectures and "World Expo Campus Tour" in Nankai University.
