The Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination signed a national participation contract with Tencent Inc, which marks that Tencent Inc has officially become the senior sponsor in Expo Shanghai's internet service. Tencent Inc will take charge of the operation and maintenance of "Expo Shanghai Online", the construction of Expo Shanghai online interactive platforms, e-business platforms and a virtual community, the joint value-added application development and operation of World Expo-related websites, publicity of World Expo network as well as online publicity and marketing promotion of World Expo theme-related products for Expo Shanghai cooperation partners. Tencent Inc is currently one of China's largest and most used Internet service portals with registered users of nearly 700 million by the end of 2007, in which 300 million are active users.
