The first UBPA International Selection Committee (ISC) meeting was successfully held in Shanghai. The ISC organization structure, responsibilities and regulations as well as the announcement on solicitation of UBPA cases were approved at the meeting. The UBPA case selection procedures and criteria were also defined at the meeting.

May 14, 2007

The worldwide solicitation on (self-proposed) UBPA cases was officially launched.

September 19, 2007

The Fifth Expo Forum, with the theme 'Urban Best Practices", was held in Shanghai. More than 200 guests from home and abroad held in-depth discussions upon the theme and exchanged ideas at the forum.

September 20, 2007

The second UBPA ISC meeting was held in Shanghai. ISC members reviewed the cases submitted by cities and international organizations, made an introduction to the arrangement for the next step works, and determined to extend the deadline of the solicitation to January 31, 2008 (from the original August 31, 2007).

January 31, 2008

The Expo Organizer received 113 case submissions. After sorting and summarizing, as well as negotiations with relevant city participants, the Organizer finally confirmed 106 cases for entry.

March 20, 2008

The ground-breaking ceremony for UBPA took place. The third UBPA ISC meeting was held the same day in Shanghai. ISC members selected the shortlist of mockup exhibition cases and pavilion exhibition cases, and approved the third category of exhibition cases (other cases).

April 2, 2008

The Organizer unveiled 15 mockup exhibition cases and over 40 pavilion exhibition cases for the UBPA.
