From February 26 to March 3, the Department of Publicity of the CPC Central
Committee organized a press corps consisting of the journalists from the central
media and some provincial and municipal media to make a special trip to Shanghai
for a 6-day interview program in order to promote the publicity and awareness of
Expo 2010 in China and encourage the whole country to participate in hosting the
Expo actively. This interview program is mainly around the progress of the
preparations for Expo 2010 Shanghai China, including theme development, merchant
and participant attraction, publicity and recommendation. These journalists are
from dozens of media including China Central Television Station (CCTV), China
National Radio, Beijing Television Station, Hunan Satellite TV Station, Jiangsu
Television Station, Liaoning Television Station, Xinhua News Agency, China News
Service, People's Daily, Straits News, Nanfang Weekly and Chengdu Economic
Daily.
During this period, Han Zheng, Mayor of Shanghai, Yin Yicui, Deputy Secretary
of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Yang Xiong, Vice Mayor of Shanghai and
Executive Deputy Director of Shanghai 2010 World Expo Executive Committee and
Zhong Yanqun, Standing Deputy Director of Shanghai 2010 World Expo Executive
Committee met the press corps and debriefed the journalists on the preparations
of Expo 2010 Shanghai China and the social and economic development of Shanghai.
During their stay in Shanghai, the journalists visited and interviewed the
Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, the planned site of Expo 2010
Shanghai China, Pudong Sanlin World Expo Garden, Yangshan Deep-water Port,
Donghai Bridge, Baoshan Luojing Steel Base, Changxing Island Jiangnan Shipyard,
Expo 2010 Shanghai China's partners, and Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition
Hall. The steady preparation work of Expo 2010 Shanghai China left a deep
impression on these journalists.

Meanwhile, the journalists expressed appreciation for the effective measures
made by Shanghai to conserve the urban historical geography and found the traces
of Shanghai industry in the past at the Expo in the future. Moreover, "Expo 2010
held in Shanghai is an enormous business opportunity for Jiangsu. Its radiating
effect will drive Jiangsu economy faster," said the journalists from Jiangsu
Television Station. They gave especial attention to the cooperation between
Jiangsu and its neighbor Shanghai in economic and social development. They also
expected a successful World Exposition through the efforts of all parties.
During the six days, the journalists caught every highlight in the
preparations of Expo 2010 Shanghai China with their cameras. They also caught
the motivity of Shanghai, which comes from the open and wide mind and
excellence-pursuing spirit of this city.
