"Creative" is a special term popular in the design industry nowadays and
appears in various media.
In the case of the Expo Park, how to be creative is a great challenge. Every
designer expects his/her products to be unique and hopes he/she can bring better
products to customers. This can be regarded as the social responsibility of a
designer.
We find that when a kind of balance is broken, another kind of balance is
possible to be created. For example, we plant arbores in the form of large
matrixes in the Expo Park. Here, the trees are not pure green plants but a kind
of device that provides a feeling of experience. The tree is translated from a
passive viewed object to an active subject creating the space, which really
expresses the strong power of nature. This experience is beyond the imagination
of the masses, and such an enormous size echoes with the Huangpu River, Nanpu
Bridge and Lupu Bridge to create a new balance.
The whole wide park is controlled by several simple elements. Its uniform and
simple formation is clear at a glance. The arbor framework, colorful ground
cover, smooth curve and riverside corridor push the visitors' sight to the
Huangpu River, and the extension and rise of the terrain present a panorama,
which indicates the intention and inspiration of the designers naturally and
discloses the place meaning of the park fully.
Spirituality and naturalism are banging with each other here, and the passion
bursting out is just the so-called "waterfront green space, urban green space,
and World Expo green space".
