Expo Shanghai (Fujian) Publicity Week & Exhibition "The Path to the World Exposition" opened in Fujian Museum, the city of Fuzhou, on May 17, 2008. Ye Shuangyu, Vice Governor of Fujian Province, visited the exhibition and pointed out that Fujian would aggressively participate in Expo 2010 and endeavor to present the splendor of the cross-strait economic zone by taking full advantage of the platform provided by the Expo. The Fujian provincial party committee and government attach great importance to the participation in Expo 2010. Fujian set up a specific "Preparatory committee for participation in Expo 2010", which consists of 22 departments directly affiliated to provincial government, and developed an overall work plan. In the meantime, Fujian will submit the draft report of theme statement in the near future, which contains four presentation concepts -- "Mountain and sea, build an eco-environment", "The breathing city", "Fujian, the green ark", and "The city of mountain and sea, the harmonious community".

Expo Shanghai (Fujian) Publicity Week & Exhibition "The Path to the World Exposition" (May 17-23) attracted a large amount of local visitors. The program‘Expo into Campus" held the same time also received warm responses from faculties and students of more than 10 local colleges and universities. The (Fujian) Publicity Week organizer canceled the scheduled opening ceremony and cut the budget to support quake-ravaged Sichuan.
