
Expo Shanghai (Fujian) Publicity Week & Exhibition "The Path to the World
Exposition" opened in Fujian Museum, the city of Fuzhou, on May 17, 2008. Ye
Shuangyu, Vice Governor of Fujian Province, visited the exhibition and pointed
out that Fujian would aggressively participate in Expo 2010 and endeavor to
present the splendor of the cross-strait economic zone by taking full advantage
of the platform provided by the Expo. Zhong Yanqun, Standing Deputy Director of
the Shanghai 2010 World Exposition Executive Committee, and other pertinent
officers also visited the exhibition.
The Fujian provincial party committee and government attach great importance
to the participation in Expo 2010. Fujian set up a specific "Preparatory
committee for participation in Expo 2010", which consists of 22 departments
directly affiliated to provincial government, and developed an overall work
plan. In the meantime, Fujian will submit the draft report of theme statement in
the near future, which contains four presentation concepts -- "Mountain and sea,
build an eco-environment", "The breathing city", "Fujian, the green ark", and
"The city of mountain and sea, the harmonious community".
Expo Shanghai (Fujian) Publicity Week & Exhibition "The Path to the World
Exposition" (May 17-23) attracted a large amount of local visitors. The
program‘Expo into Campus" held the same time also received warm responses from
faculties and students of more than 10 local colleges and universities. The
(Fujian) Publicity Week organizer canceled the scheduled opening ceremony and
cut the budget to support quake-ravaged Sichuan.
