Professor Wu who made a survey in the quake-hit areas said emotionally that, based on the survey, there are more quake-affected people in the places where is lack of planning, while the quake-affected people become remarkably less in those places where have planning. "The previous location selections for some towns are lack of scientific basis and many buildings are constructed in the fault zones. Being a planer, we hope to select safety location for resettlement through this planning activity so that the local people can live and work in peace and contentment."

Wu Zhiqiang introduced that, the regions of frequent geographical hazards and potential secondary hazards, such as debris flows, landslide, collapse belt, land sinking, flood control area and lower land, should be avoided in location selection as possible. The resettlement site should be provided with basic traffic conditions and arranged in a centralized manner, or in the model of new rural residential community as possible.

The reporter realized that, the transitional resettlement houses are mainly comprised of portable houses. Every block consists of ten houses with supporting facilities including public toilet, wash room, kitchen, shower room, and rubbish collection site. Every house is a standardized house with an area of 12 square meters. Furthermore, hundreds of houses will constitute a standard block equipped with public facilities such as water supply and power supply, even natural gas if possible. The life for such transitional resettlement houses is 1 to 3 years. After the life period, these houses will be removed to construct permanent houses according to the plan.

The theme of Expo Shanghai is "Better City, Better Life". Wu Zhiqiang said that, the reconstruction plan conducted by us in the quake-hit areas is to contribute ideas and concepts for urban construction in Sichuan Province and introduce the modern concepts into the urban construction in order to let the quake-affected people enjoy a better life. "This is exactly consistent with the theme of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China".

One of the sub-themes of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is "interaction between urban and country". "Our tour for this time is a good example for interaction between urban and country." Being an expert in urban planning, Wu Zhiqiang believes that, the urban planning would consider the development of rural areas, and be developed to urban-country plan. New concepts and experiences should be introduced to the rural area to construct new rural area under integration of urban and rural areas.
