The sudden magnitude 8 earthquake crushes our formerly quiet life. To the
biggest and most destructive disaster, various circles of the society all make
quick response and are tightly connected with victims in the quake-hit areas.
Partners and sponsor enterprises of Expo Shanghai also extend their quickest
care and actively organize donations and involve in quake relief work rapidly.
They express their care and love to the victims with practical activities.

China East Air -- Establishing a rescue team and transport emergency
quake relief materials
"Baby, wait for uncle, the plane will take you back. There are thousands of
warm hands, ready to calm down your trembling and cure you bleeding wound. Don't
cry, don't be sad, remember our promise, and come back to the brand new and
familiar home with mother. That is home with uncles and aunts from all over
China." This is poem to children in the quake-hit areas written by an aviator of
China East Air who involves in quake relief work. It warms up all of us.
However, what beyond the affectionate wording is hard work of China East Air
staff in quake relief work with several aircrafts to transport victims and quake
relief materials. Several hundreds of quake relief flights are arranged from
Luoyang, Xi'an, Wuhan, Taiyuan, Nanchang, Nanjing, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo,
Hefei, Shijiazhuang, Guilin and Kunming to Chengdu and Mianyang to transport
over ten thousand quake victims and thousands of tons quake relief materials and
medical instruments and evacuate over 30 thousand passengers stuck in quake-hit
areas. Several civil helicopters are put in use of airdropping quake relief
work. Representatives from Shanghai Aviation Department and Engineering
Technology Department of China East Air establish 10 quake relief rescue teams.
Team members solemnly swear that: with motherland in heart, perform the duty
honestly, ensure safety, securing all out, assist quake-hit areas, devote love
and care and achieve final success of the quake relief work!
China East Air also carries out the "quake relief love month" activity and
launches 6 quake relief measures: organize "assistance from neighborhood watches
and borderless love" activity, i.e., organizing staff to donate money and
materials; create "green channel", i.e., modifying civil passenger aircraft to
provide rapid service for rescue team and the injured and ensure rescue
personnel boarding at the first time and give priority to loading and unloading
of luggage; provide rapid and reliable logistics for quake relief materials,
speed up check-in procedures for quake relief materials and baggage of loading
and unloading quake relief materials and rescue team; give priority to
transportation of quake relief materials so as to arrange flights carrying quake
relief materials taking off as early as practical; reserve enough backup
transportation capacity to take the mission of "lifeline in the air" and ensure
completion of various emergency tasks assigned by the State and local
governments; carry out activity of "RMB 10 is donated for each ticket sold",
i.e., RMB 10 is donated once each domestic and international air ticket is sold
in order to support quake relief work and reconstruction after earthquake.

China Mobile -- Urgently repair communication Facilities and Open
Life and Care Hotline
In this earthquake, facilities of China Mobile are severely destroyed. To the
worst, over 4000 base stations are out of service. Total length of optical fiber
cable covered in Sichuan province reaches 6,000 kilometers, among which 866.5
kilometers are disconnected. In order to provide timely communication for quake
relief, China Mobile spare not efforts to allocate important equipments such as
GSM main equipments, generators, satellite equipments and antenna and urgently
repair and restore communication. On May 16, as sudden magnetite 5.9 aftershock
stuck Lixian County, staff of China Mobile aged 36, Liu Jianqiu, who was
repairing the cables in Guergou Town at the Section from Maerkang to Lixian
County was unfortunately hit by flying stones of landslide and bravely devoted
his young life. However, there're about over 20,000 employees of China Mobile
who are working at the frontline regardless of danger to their life. With
unremitting efforts, on May 16, China Mobile successfully built the satellite
emergency base station in Wenchuan of Sichuan Province. The communication is
restored for the whole county seat and communication for administrative regions
above county level is connected through coordinated operation of fiber cable
connected to base station and emergency communication vehicle.
In order to ensure smooth communication of the quake-hit area, China Mobile
established quake relief service station in area where people gather together
like square, station, airport, hospital, operation network to provide emergency
service for free like safe arrival phone. In addition, China Mobile also open
10086 life and care hotline to provide hotline service of "looking for family
member and relatives" and "safe arrival" to quake victims. Only within a few
days, the life and care hotline has successfully helped about 20,000 victim
households to find their family members and make thousands of separated families
gather together.

China Telecom - Technicians arrive at quake hit area to take urgent
repair
"The phone is finally connected, three members of our family are found………"
Messages of life and help flying via Telecom from Sichuan are rapid reflected to
each related quake relief department. It is the communication line that helps us
to find signals of fresh life and extend the rescue strength in frontline. The
true love and affection move every participant. A lot of moving stories are
creating during the process of listening, feedback and relief of our telephone
service personnel and volunteers. "I just want to do something for the quake-hit
areas"; "function of each base station may save people's lives". Employees of
China Telecom, with firm faith, start the quake relief communication
safeguarding campaign hand in hand at the frontline of quake relief work.
While, at background, Shanghai Telecom also spares no effort to support
all-out support to rescue team and medical care team, including providing
maritime satellite telephone to ensure communication for blind communication
zone. Employees of emergency communication bureau carry 4 kinds of communication
facilities like VSAT satellite ground station, emergency communication
vehicle/diesel generator set, programmable exchange satellite communication and
wireless connection to the quake-hit areas, which provides communication
security for quake relief work.
In order to ensure Sichuan workers in Shanghai get connected with their
family timely, Shanghai Telecom business offices open free family long-distance
call to the quake hit-area, and provide 80 special lines of 114 Sichuan inquiry
service to five districts of Sichuan such as Panzhihua, Luzhou, Guangyuan,
Suining, Aba. Shanghai Telecom opens 114 quake relief donation hotlines jointly
with Shanghai Red Cross Society jointly and opens a quake relief donation
hotline of 968600 jointly with Shanghai Charity Foundation. China Telecom will
submit all donations and communication charge for dialing the hotline to
Shanghai Red Cross Society as special fund used for the quake-hit areas.

Bank of Communications - Spare no efforts to provide financing
support
Bank of Communications has never forgotten its social responsibility in quake
relief work. Immediately after the occurring of the earthquake, Bank of
Communications has organized staff from branches in Chengdu surrounding areas to
actively provide support for the quake-hit areas and transfer materials. A
rescue team, organized by more than 10 strong and healthy young volunteers from
Chongqing Branch who are skilled in rescue, has gone to Dujiangyan area with
plenty of materials and dedicated themselves in quake relief work.
Bank of Communications has urgently dispatched resources to add more ATM and
other equipment in purpose of guaranteeing normal operation at the
earthquake-hit areas if it safe to do so. Repair was immediately carried out for
the heavy ruined network. Since May 15, some branches which stopped business due
to the heavy disaster have successively resumed normal business.
In addition, Bank of Communications tries best to maintain the normal
operation of the payment system and treasury system, promptly allocates the
relief funds appropriated by the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Civil
Affairs as well as other ministries to relevant units, gives priority to handle
with the relief funds remitted to the quake hit areas free of postage,
production cost and service fee, gives priority for emergency handling of funds
intended for reconstruction, production and operation, and opens an account for
donation free of all fees according to local requirements. In addition, Bank of
Communications has designated special personnel to check and maintain the ATM
which are stored with enough money to ensure 24-hour normal operation of ATM and
smooth operation of E-banking. The branches at the quake-hit areas have
appropriately extended the service time and provide evening service if
necessary, according to the demands of local government and customers.

SAIC GM - donating to support the disaster area
SAIC Group leads all its affiliated enterprises for vehicles and auto parts
to donate for the regions stricken by the earthquake in Sichuan province and
contribute to earthquake relief. It also rapidly organizes staff to console over
500 employees from Sichuan within the group who are now working in Shanghai and
offer help. The foreign management staff in all enterprises of SAIC Group also
expressed their personal sympathy for the damage to the Chinese people.
General Motors joins with its joint ventures in China -- Shanghai General
Motors and SAIC-GM-Wuling to donate to the regions stricken by the earthquake in
Sichuan, China, to support the disaster relief and recovery in this area.
Meanwhile, GM China also advocates its employees worldwide to donate to help the
people suffering from the disaster, and GM China will also donate the equivalent
amount in the ratio of 1:1 according to the amount donated by the staff, to help
the stricken areas for rebuilding and the victims to rebuild their lives.

Siemens - Among the first to participate in earthquake emergency
relief
Siemens quickly responds to the call of the government and society and
continues with the company's disaster relief program "Siemens·Caring Hands" to
donate to the people in the worst affected area through China's Red Cross, as
one of the first foreign-funded enterprises participating in the earthquake
emergency relief.
On May 16, Siemens again donated medical equipments and services as well as
advanced water purification units to the areas stricken by the earthquake in
Sichuan. In addition, the company has also set up a 24-hour "emergency task
force" to ensure smooth operation of the healthcare equipments in the
earthquake-hit area and surrounding areas.

Coca Cola - Helping with urgent needs of the victims
After the earthquake, Coco Cola China immediately announced to urgently
donate its first relief funds, and transport over 10,000 cartons of drinking
water and hundreds of beach umbrellas to the earthquake-hit area, to help with
the urgent needs of the victims. After that, Coca Cola USA also donated to
China's disaster area through the Red Cross in the States.
President of Coca Cola (China) Beverages Co., Ltd., Douglas A. Jackson said,
"We're very worried and always concerned about the people in the disaster area.
We're willing to make our contributions to the people there. We hope these
donations can do some help to the victims for the disaster relief and recovery.
Coca Cola will stay together with the people in the disaster area and get
through the difficulties."

State Grid - Working against time to restore power supply
In the face of the sudden disaster of earthquake, the national electrical
power departments have taken comprehensive and immediately countermeasures.
State Grid initiated emergency plan in no time, and the professional team for
emergency repair of power grid summoned from 5 provinces and cities such as
Henan, Hunan, Hebei, Chongqing and Jiangxi has arrived in Sichuan to deal with
the emergency. State Grid has transferred healthcare professionals, medical
vehicles and related medical appliances from its affiliated hospitals to the
disaster area in Sichuan, and set up an "Emergency Relief Medical Team of State
Grid" to rescue. State Grid has also gathered a lot of generators, distribution
transformers, various kinds of insulators, concrete poles and other power
materials and equipments from all over China and collected urgently needed
materials such as drinking water, foodstuff, tents and medicines etc. to support
the earthquake-hit area.
Through great effort and hard work, the disaster relief operation of the
State Grid has achieved periodical results. By May 22nd, the power grids in
Shanxi, Chongqing and Gansu have completely restored their normal power supply.
52 of the 60 counties stricken by the disaster in the operating area of Sichuan
Power Company have basically restored power supply, and the remaining 8 counties
are supplying power through emergency power generating vehicles and generators
for urgently needed power load, which basically solves the problem with power
supply.

PICC - Providing insurance for the rescuers
After the breakout of the earthquake on May 12, PICC Charity Funds
immediately donated to the disaster area in Sichuan, for the disaster relief and
restoration of normal production and living order. PICC provides accident
insurance and accidental injury medical insurance per person to the PLA and
armed police officers and soldiers participating in the emergency rescues and
disaster relief work; and donates life accident insurance per person to the
members of China International Search and Rescue Team. It also offered general
insurance to the disaster relief medical team dispatched by Shanghai health
authorities.

Baosteel - Rushing out multi-function pre-painted steel plat
houses
To meet the demand of the disaster area for rebuilding their homes, Baosteel
keeps providing steel plate houses to the disaster area which are anti-seismic
and weatherproof. Baosteel is currently working overtime to rush out the steel
plate houses urgently needed by the disaster area. It took Baosteel staff only 4
days and 5 nights to rush out the steel plate houses which originally need
around 20 days of production cycle for design and production. The first lot of
12-room mobile multi-function pre-painted steel plate houses was transported
from Shanghai to the earthquake-hit area in Sichuan by two fleets with 4
vehicles each respectively on May 17 and 18.
With the concern for our fellow citizens, the senior sponsors and project
sponsor enterprises of Expo Shanghai also generously contributed to the funds
and took advantages of their own resources to help the country and the
earthquake victims.
The earthquake is merciless but the world is filled with love. The social
