Somalia will use its participation in the Shanghai 2010 World Expo to broaden its knowledge of urban development, the ambassador of the African country said on Friday during the signing of a participation contract with Expo organizers.

Somalia, which is still working on the theme of its exhibition plan, views the Expo as an important opportunity to enhance its relationship with China and present itself to the world, Mohammed Awil, the country's ambassador to China and its deputy commissioner general for the Expo, said on Friday.

The Federal Republic of Somalia is the 91st country to sign a participation contract with the Expo organizers. It will present an exhibition in the Joint-Africa Pavilion with about 40 other African nations.
