Breathtaking, innovative, high-tech, feasible¨Cand a reasonable price tag.
That's what Shanghai Expo organisers want for the interior exhibition plan of
the grand red China Pavilion, centerpiece of the 2010 extravaganza.
Designs should explore the theme of the China Pavilion, "Chinese Wisdom in
Urbanization." The Expo theme is Better City, Better Life.
Organisers have urged companies bidding for the interior exhibition plan to
come up with designs that are spectacular and creative, representing the latest
in high technology. They must be doable in terms of manufacture, and the cost
must be reasonable. Bidders must be reliable partners in ongoing cooperation.
Chen Xianjin, deputy director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo
Coordination, addressed a working meeting with candidates competing for the
interior design plan. He emphasized that the China Pavilion will be an Expo
landmark, attracting millions of visitors in the six-month period, and should be
both magnificent and meaningful. He urged timely submission of designs.
Xiong Xunlin, deputy director of the office heading preparations for the
China Pavilion, urged candidates to study the Expo¡¯s theme of urban innovation
and absorb experiences of past World Expos.
Expo staff answered questions from the candidate firms concerning the theme,
construction standards and design requirements.
