A performance of traditional Chinese arts and culture was given rapturous
applause by audiences at the Expo Zaragoza in Spain last night.
Peking opera, Kunqu opera, ethnic dancers and acrobatics took the stage at
the Conference Center at the Zaragoza Expo.
A recital on the Guqin, the ancient Chinese zither that dates back more than
3,000 years, and an ancient marionette, were given standing ovations.
Audience members said the performances had spurred their interest in Chinese
culture and they were looking forward to the Shanghai World Expo.
Vicente Loscertales, the secretary general of the International Expositions
Bureau and Zhou Hanmin, deputy director general of the Bureau of Shanghai World
Expo Coordination, were in the audience.
The performance was produced by the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo
Coordination and the Shanghai Media Group, as part of "Shanghai Week," a
Shanghai Expo promotion at the Zaragoza Expo.
"Shanghai Week" included an international forum "From Zaragoza to Shanghai ?a
world of harmony" at the University of Zaragoza on
Tuesday.
