Hu Jingjun, deputy director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo
Coordination, yesterday met Martin Davidson, chief executive of the British
Council, the United Kingdom's international organization for cultural relations.
Hu extended a warm welcome to British guests. Hu said British culture is very
popular in Shanghai and talked about the success of Climate Cool at the Shanghai
Science and Technology Museum, which was organized by the British Council.
Hu said Shanghai Expo will hold more than 20,000 cultural performances during
the six-month period. The Performance Center, Expo Center and UK Pavilion are
excellent venues for the country to showcase its diverse culture.
Davidson thanked Hu and said he was pleased to share the British Council's
experience in the management of cultural events.
