Tianjin will reproduce a local town in the World Expo Shanghai 2010's Urban
Best Practices Area to show the country's efforts in turning the countryside
into a modern neighborhood, organizers said in Tianjin today.
Huaming Town, in the east of Tianjin, was built last year after a
construction period of two years. The town has a shopping street, gardens,
elementary and middle schools, clinics and fire stations.
The Huaming project was selected as one of 55 cases to be exhibited in the
UBPA that will showcase innovation in tackling problems during urbanization.
Huaming's project shows the new countryside of China, said Zhang Changhe,
Party chief of Huaming.
Kong Lingqi, who is in charge of the Huaming project in UBPA, said,
"Enrolling Huaming into the exhibition showed the acknowledgment of our approach
to build a modern countryside by experts from home and abroad."
The UBPA exhibition will replicate the town and use multimedia methods to
show the "modern life" of its residents.
