I. Organizer
The World Expo 2010 Shanghai China Logo will be
collected from both domestic and overseas entrants in the name of the Organizing
Committee of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China. The World Expo 2010 Shanghai
China Logo Collection Office takes charge of the specific proceedings.
II. Eligibility
Any domestic or overseas professional graphic
design organizations or individuals, amateurs and any other people who are
interested in the competition and will dedicate to it are eligible. The entrants
can submit their entries individually or in the name of the groups. There is no
limit for the number of entries each individual or group submits.
III.
Requirements
The World Expo 2010 Shanghai China Logo should be a plane
and colored logo. "EXPO 2010 SHANGHAI CHINA" should be presented on the logos
the entrants propose.
IV. Deadline and Fee
The deadline for the
World Expo 2010 Shanghai China Logo Competition is 24:00pm, July 31, 2004
(according to the final postmark).
Entry is free.
V. Submission
1. Complete the Submission Form for the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China
Logo Competition (Form-1). Requirements must be followed to complete the
Submission Form:
1) The Form must be completed in round hand characters
(or block capital letters) with a blue or black ink fountain pen.
2) If
an entry is submitted in the name of an institution or organization, please fill
in the full name of the institution or organization and affix its official
stamp.
2. The mounting of entries must meet the following requirements:
1) Two copies (Copy A and Copy B) of each entry must be submitted:
entries should be printed on a piece of A4 paper (210mm X 297mm); Copy A should
be submitted after being mounted, but Copy B need not to be mounted (this copy
is for the official archives).
2) Copy A should be centred and mounted
on an A3 (297mm X 420mm) black paperboard. The mounted Copy A with completed
Submission Form-1 pasted on the back should be sent along with Copy B,
Submission Form-3 and a World Expo 2010 Shanghai China Logo Competition
Entrants'' Commitments signed by the creators to the collection office.
3) The collection office ONLY regards those entries which meet the above
requirements as validity.

).
VI. Judging Procedure and Criteria
1) Judging Procedure:
The judging begins on August 1, 2004 with the preliminary judging and
leading ultimately to final judging. A commendation ceremony for the World Expo
Logo Competition will be held in December. The final result of the judging will
be announced at the ceremony.
2) Judging Criteria
(1) The
concept of the entries must highlight the theme of the World Expo 2010: 'Better
City, Better Life'.
(2) The entries must embody "Comprehension,
Communication, Gathering and Cooperation", the philosophy of the World Expo
2010.
(3) The logos should be unique in style, leave great margins for
imagination, bring with strong visual impact and reflect globalization and
modernization.
(4) The logos should be compact and vivid, catchy and
impressive, with clear definition and modernity. The logos should also be
suitable for a variety of activities organized for the World Expo and the
production of souvenirs.
(5) All the entries should be original and
never published before.
VII Prizes
1) All the entrants can
receive souvenirs of World Expo 2010
2) The 100 entrants who pass the
first judging can receive commemorative certificates issued by the World Expo
2010 Shanghai China Logo Collection Office.
3) A total of 10 finalists
will be selected as the Excellent Design Award winners and will receive a prize
of 5,000 RMB and a commemorative certificate issued by the Organizing Committee
of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
4) One First Prize winner will be
selected as the Best Design Award winner and will receive a prize of 200,000 RMB
and a commemorative certificate issued by the Organizing Committee of the World
Expo 2010 Shanghai.
VIII. Copyrights of the selected entries
1).
All the entrants should have the full, complete and exclusive copyrights of
their entries. In the case that any entry violates another's copyright, the
entrant should take all the relevant legal responsibilities and the Organizing
Committee of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai has no responsibility for this. The
organizing committee has the right to exhibit, promote and utilize the
award-winning entries for free.
2) All the entries' concepts and schemes
of design are protected by the relevant intellectual property laws and
regulations of China. All the selected entries' copyrights and other rights and
interests of intellectual property are owned by the committee. The entrants have
the authorship.
