With this one hour long presentation on the history of the BIE and Expos, the
audience rediscovered a much richer Expo tradition than they expected.
Along with the historical background, they learnt about the multiplicity
of innovations touching architecture, new products, technology and society. The
future Expos of Zaragoza 2008 and Shanghai 2010 were presented, as well as the
bids of 2012 and 2015.
"I really appreciated learning more about the
BIE, and especially going over the different Expos and the various national
pavilions. We know about the great landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the
Atomium, but we are not aware of all other wonderful national
contributions,"said one of the participants.
This lecture was possible
thanks to the cooperation of the Institut Francais de Tanger, located in the
heart of Tangier, which provided a wonderful gallery space and assisted the BIE
with the promotion.
